Stay with us

Stay with us

Last October, the Brussels Jazz Orchestra asked musicians from all over the world to join Frank Vaganée (alto sax), Marc Godfroid (trombone), Serge Plume (trumpet) and Toni Vitacolonna (drums) in an international virtual orchestra. 43 musicians accepted the challenge and played Vaganée’s composition ‘Stay with us’ from their living room.

Provided with an mp3 track and the parts, musicians could play the composition at home while filming themselves. Every video brought the virtual orchestra a step closer to its full line up. Eventually, Guy Fellemans (director of the BJO documentary ‘Bring it to the people’, 2020), Gyuri Spies and Filip Walgraef assembled all 43 entries to form one orchestra. The result of this technical stunt will be launched on Monday, November 30th

After ‘Someday We’ll All Be Free’, ‘Stay with us’ is the second digital participative project of the Brussels Jazz Orchestra that offers musicians the chance to connect in a creative way.
