On the 12th of January 2020 the Brussels Jazz Orchestra plays the compositions of the finalists of the 8th International Composition Contest in Flagey, Brussels. An international jury which consists of Pierre Bertrand (FR), Florian Ross (DE) and Vellu Halkosalmi (FI), will choose the winner.
Following the preselection round, the finalists each get a budget of €1000 and ten weeks time to write a new composition for Brussels Jazz Orchestra.
During the Brussels Jazz Festival in Flagey, the finalists will conduct their compositions, played by Brussels Jazz Orchestra. This concert is the final piece of their hard work. The winner will receive the BJO ICC Award: a cash prize of €2000 and a professional audio and video recording of the premiere of his or her composition, performed by Brussels Jazz Orchestra.
The Brussels Jazz Festival is a 10 day event that gives people the chance to enjoy jazz in all its facets. Concerts, dj-sets, movie screenings and workshops are part of the program. This festival is an initiatieve of Flagey, Brussels.
