One of the most daring adventures the Brussels Jazz Orchestra has undertaken in its more over-20 year career! The renowned Belgian composer/arranger Bert Joris has written four compositions for large symphony orchestra and large jazz orchestra. Altogether, nearly 100 musicians are on stage in a unique interaction between soloists, improvisers and instrumental groups.
Each orchestra plays in its own idiom, doing what it does best, sometimes melding with the other orchestra and sometimes sharply set off from it. Dangerous Liaison has already had 16 performances in Belgium and the Netherlands with different (sometimes local) symphony orchestras, always to great acclaim. The accompanying CD, recorded with the orchestra ‘deFilharmonie’, was praised in the international jazz press.
