Gwilym Simcock

Gwilym Simcock is one of the UK’s most highly regarded pianists and imaginative composers, moving effortlessly between classical and jazz with harmonic refinement and a subtle blending of musical traditions.

Together with Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Simcock presents a set of compositions for jazz orchestra and solo piano. He has written a composition that highlights his own creativity and originality as well as that of BJO specially for this collaboration. A wonderful combination of Simcock's shining talent and the dynamic sound of Brussels Jazz Orchestra.

Gwilym Simcock

Pianist and composer Gwilym Simcock creates his very own sound and has worked with orchestras, choirs, big bands, small ensembles and musicians from a wide musical spectrum. He was, among other things, artist in residence with the NDR Big Band in Hamburg, worked with the London Symphony Orchestra Percussion Ensemble on the album 'Quartet, Quintet' and arranged 'Milestones' for the Swedish orchestra OModernt, based on the music of Miles Davis with trombonist Nils Landgren. In 2022, the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester commissioned the work 'When Time Has Told'. In addition, Simcock has released several albums, including 'Instrumation' (2014) with the City of London Sinfonia and the solo project 'Near and Now' (2019). Together with guitarist Mike Walker, he co-leads the band 'The Impossible Gentlemen' and tours the world with American guitar legend Pat Metheny. Simcock also teaches jazz piano at his alma mater The Royal Academy of Music.
