Since 2002, Nathalie Loriers has been Brussels Jazz Orchestra's main presence behind the keys. With Envols, she takes you on a bird's-eye view of her colourful career with the orchestra and beyond. Stops are made at compositions from the past, such as Danse Eternelle, and the present, such as Lost and the title track Envols, which she composed and arranged for the occasion. This festive concert series (Nathalie celebrates her 60th birthday in October 2026) places the role of the piano in the spotlight: a function that is not self-evident in the universe of a big band.
The pianist also approaches Envols from a spiritual point of view, as an expression of a different consciousness. From her unique position within the orchestra, she can draw on a rich palette of remarkable experiences. Her adventures with BJO take her to a world that is quite different from the musical constellations she inhabits at other times (such as her own trio). Together with the audience, Envols flies in a deliberate manner through times gone by and towards the horizon with anticipation. Through the selection of compositions, the audience will gain a better understanding of uniqueness of the long-standing collaboration between Nathalie Loriers and Brussels Jazz Orchestra.
